Ultimately, if they have just the phone and a cable in the box I’d say everyone will complain but they wouldn’t be as justified because everyone has a power brick, they don’t necessarily have to be Apple for the charger to work. Good or bad, Apple, like others is a public company and they have to maintain/grow their profit margins. so given that information from a business point of view they have to cut the cost somewhere. Again if rumours are true, iPhone is gonna stay at the same price point.

Look at any other android manufacturer, everyone who introduced 5G devices prices went up by around $100. Something that’s being missed is according to the rumours, all the iPhone 12 models are suppose to have 5G (different variations). If we get to a point where nothing includes one, it will be a bit of a step backwards and potentially cause a bigger issue. Right now this stuff holds true because every device has one.

That said, long term it might cause an issue though. Again, I know some people love them and there is a market but I can't imagine it's insane.Īs a result, I get the point and understand the value but at the same time I see it being pointless. I would want better quality headphones regardless and with so many wireless options, it seems really out of place. I get everyone is different but in certain situations I totally and completely get that they have no value. Most of them actually go to family members or people who mention they broke theirs and I just give them one because they have no value to me. So, I quite literally have nine or so bricks going completely unused that are in a corner.

If I include devices, I have at least three from iPhones, one from my DAC, three from DAPs, two from bluetooth speakers, two from my camera, five from tablets, my Surface charger has one and some ports too, four Roku devices and probably more I'm forgetting. I have three surge protectors with USB plugs, my headset stand, iMac, the hub connected to my iMac has a few, television has at least two, PlayStation 4 has two, Switch has one and this doesn't even include devices. I get it, wall chargers are handy, I've previously posted that they will always have some level of value because you can use them for various things, but I can also see moving away from including it. Like, a lot of the debate seems to be grounded in principle. With that said, watching some Apple fans jump through hoops to rationalize what they think the company is doing is like listening to Trump supporters try to defend with the latest offense, lie, or round of incompetence from the White House. Regardless of it being true or not, I find the debate interesting.

At the extreme, in the weakest signal simulation, the Qualcomm chip performed 75% better." This link seems to confirm that.Join our Discord! It seems to jibe with what I recall reading (somewhere) on iMore - the biggest appreciable difference being the inclusion of support for most CDMA bands on the A1661 version. Thanks! I saw something similar here but it doesn't list the Qualcomm versus Intel chips.īeing bored sitting at my desk, I Googled it and found which states that there are "two distinct RF SKUs, one limited to GSM/WCDMA/LTE support (A1778, A1784), powered by Intel’s modem, and one with GSM/CDMA/WCDMA/TD-SCDMA/LTE support (A1660, A1661) powered by Qualcomm’s modem."Īnother that I found said that "The results showed that, nearly across the board, the iPhone 7 with the Qualcomm modem made stronger connections to the network that the Intel-toting model. I can't find the iMore article with the reference, but you can take a look at this.
